Born and raised in Vancouver, fourteen-year-old Valery Lou began her piano studies at the age of 5. Valery has received international and national recognition; her awards include First Prize at the CMC finals in 2019, the runner-up of her age category in the Pacific International Youth Festival in 2022, and her selection to represent the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals at the Provincial Festival in 2023. She was the BC and National Gold Medal recipient for the highest mark in the Grade 10 RCM examination in 2020, and was invited to perform in the 2022 RCM Celebration of Excellence Recital.

In addition to her piano endeavors, Valery is also an accomplished violinist, chamber musician, and orchestra member. In 2023, she appeared as violin soloist in the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver with the VAM Intermediate Symphony. Apart from music, Valery has achieved national and provincial excellence in speech and artistic swimming.
